Research in the group addresses several aspects of heteroborane chemistry. In general terms we are involved with the synthesis of new heteroborane compounds, particularly metallacarboranes, in their spectroscopic and structural characterisation and in studies of their isomerisations and reactivity. Specific areas of current interest include (but are not limited to) the chemistry of supraicosahedral heteroboranes, bis(carboranes), nitrosocarboranes and non-Wadian metallacarboranes. We also have an interest in identifying and understanding aspects of heteroborane structure which we address both experimentally (via the synthesis and study of new compounds) and by analysing established structures in the Cambridge Structural Database. |
